About From The Smallest Desk

Hi!

My name is Phil and I'm a writer. You probably don't know me. I'm not famous.

From The Smallest Desk is about many things. It's about my lifelong fascination with stories, but especially with books and movies.

When I was a callow youth, I dreamed of being a screenwriter. I dabbled with screenplays for a while, but never got anywhere. Maybe one day. And then, in 2020, the COVID lockdowns happened and I decided to take one of my old ideas and just write.

That idea turned into my self-published novel, Unregistered, which saw the light of day in December 2023.

Another relevant thing happened during lockdown. My wife had a room and a desk for work. I had the table in the living room. It wasn't good, reader. I needed a place of my own and the only spot suitable was a corner of the bedroom.

The smallest corner of the bedroom, the only one unoccupied. So me and Marcela got out the tape measure, then hopped in the car, and found the tiniest adult-suitable desk in Ikea.

Now my creative life revolves around the smallest desk. I teach there. I write there.
